VIEW WEBSITEExpert Opinion
Smartsheet is one the most innovative project management tools available.
It looks very much like a spreadsheet program with a friendly interface. It’s not a spreadsheet, but once you get started you’ll see that it’s far more than that. It’s almost like a project manager tool that has been combined with a spreadsheet and CRM, budgeting app, resource management software, and a budgeting app.
There are many things going on underneath the hood.
This is both a curse as well as a blessing, one thing you’ll quickly discover. Smartsheet is completely customizable. You can modify every part of any workflow, spreadsheet, or project funnel.
This level of customization and control comes with a steep learning curve. It took me a lot of time to learn Smartsheet and become comfortable with it (thanks to my Microsoft Excel knowledge).
Unlearning how a project management tool should look is part of the learning curve. Smartsheet’s interface and workflows look and feel like a spreadsheet, but they aren’t as intuitive or user-friendly at first. Once you are comfortable with the interface, you will be able to use traditional spreadsheet tools (like formulas), and integrate them into your workflows.
Smartsheet is a worthy candidate for a test drive. Although it is more difficult to use than other tools, Smartsheet is a versatile tool that can be used by small businesses to large corporations.
The real question is: It’s up to you to decide if it’s the right fit for your business.
