This template is a free project initiation checklist.
This is the first page in the Project Initiation Checklist. It’s a quick and easy way to find out what your project sponsor needs to know when you meet for the first meeting.
It can be used to cover everything, from what success looks like to who needs to be involved.
It’s a PDF document, so you can print it and bring it with you to the meeting. Then tick the boxes as you answer the questions.
You can also copy them into a separate document to make it appear like you have done all the thinking and preparation before the meeting. I don’t mind.
Our PickEmail Templates are for Project Kick-offTemplates. They will help you set expectations, receive information, request updates, and manage issues. This template is intended for Business Analysts, but can be easily customized to suit all project roles.

What should you do during project start-up?
There are many steps involved in project initiation. However, one of them is to calculate a ROM estimate. This is the rough estimate of the total project costs.
You will also want to:
Understanding the context of business
Learn the requirements
Understanding the funding is essential as you will need to create a budget for your project.
Understanding what success looks like usually involves talking to the team about the criteria for success and how the customer will judge the project.
Talk about everything else that is needed to make the project a success right from the beginning.
After answering all the questions, you should have a good idea of what this project entails. This checklist covers all points.
How to use the checklist
The checklist includes topics that should be discussed during project initiation in a few areas. It’s a prompt to ask questions once you have downloaded it.
It doesn’t really matter if your environment is agile, hybrid, or iterative. The most important part of starting a project is the beginning. Ask all the questions and get to know the expectations of the customer and team. You will probably have other questions as a project manager. These questions can be added to your next project in order to improve the project initiation process.
You can find more tips on how to initiate a project in my complete guide to starting a project. This includes questions to ask and topics to discuss in your kickoff meeting agenda.
