EC2 EnhancedNetworking
Enhanced networking results are higher bandwidth, higher packet speed (PPS), lower latency, consistency and lower jitter.
EC2 offers enhanced networking capabilities by using single root I/O virtualization, (SR-IOV), only on supported instance typesSRIOV is a method for device virtualization that provides higher I/O performance while reducing CPU utilization.
Amazon Linux AMIs, and Windows Server 2012 R2 API Modules already have the module installed with all the attributes set. They do not require additional configurations.
It can be enabled by installing the module with the appropriate attributes.
Enhanced Networking can be supported using Elastic Network Adapter. The Elastic Network Adapter supports network speeds up to 100 Gbps for supported instances types.
ENA is used for enhanced networking in the current generation instances, except for C4, D2, or M4 instances smaller that m4.16xlarge.
Intel 82599 Virtual Function Interface (VF) interfaceThe Intel-82599 Virtual Function Interface supports network speeds up to 10 Gbps for supported instance type.
Supported instance types: C3, C4, I2, M4, and D2, I2, M4 m4.16xlarge) and R3.VF EnhancedNetworking Key Requirements
VPC is not possible because enhanced networking cannot be enabled in EC2-Classic.
An AMI type HVM virtualization
Instance kernel versionLinux kernel Version of 2.6.32+
Windows Server 2008 R2+
Appropriate Virtual Function driverLinux – must have the ixgbevf Module installed and the sriovNetSupport attribute for the instance
Windows- Intel 82599 Virtual Function driver
Supported instance types: C3, C4, I2, M4, and D2, I2, M4 m4.16xlarge), or R3. AWS Certification Exam Practice Question
Questions are collected via the Internet. The answers are marked according to my knowledge and understanding (which may differ from yours).
AWS services are constantly updated and the answers and questions may be out of date soon. So make sure to research accordingly.
AWS exam questions cannot be updated to keep up with AWS updates. This means that even if the underlying feature has been changed, the question may not be updated.
You have multiple Amazon EC2 instances that are running in a cluster within multiple Availability Zones within the region. Which combination of the following should you use to achieve the best network performance (packets per seconds, lowest latency and lowest jitter)? Select 3 answersAmazon E-commerce Placement Groups (would not work for multiple AZs)
Enhanced networking (provides network performance and lowest latency)
Amazon PV AMI (Requires HPV)
Amazon HVM AMI (Requires Amazon HVM)
Amazon Linux (Can also be used on other systems)
Amazon VPC (works only within VPC, can’t enable enhanced networking if an instance is in EC2-Classic). A group of researchers is studying how a beetle migrates to eat and destroy gram. Researchers must process large amounts of data and run statistical analysis. The following options provide high performance computing. You can create an Autoscaling Scaling group and launch many instances simultaneously to perform statistical analysis.
Launch AMI instances that support SRIOV in a single Availability Area
Launch compute optimized (C4) instances at least in two Availability Zones
